Classic, Ghazal Music in Afghanistan.


In general, The classical music in Afghanistan comes from North India. Rhythm is necessary. The Tabla is usually used for this. But any other drum instrument is good like the dholak or daira. (list of instruments)
The Harmonium (or Harmonia), Sitar, Rubab is used to accompany this and play a melody (or "Raag").
Voice isn't necessary in this classical Music, but it is possible. Like Ustad Sarahang did. (Ustad means: Master).

Some Classical Afghan singers:
Ustad Sarahang, Ustad Rahim Bakhsh, Ustad Hashem, Ustad Amahang.

Ghazal is more the kind of music that should give you some rest. An Harmonium and Tabla required. The voice is very, the stinger and the texts.
These are poetic texts and can be lovesongs or religious songs.

Ustad Sarahang, Nashenaas, Ustad Mahwash, Ahmad Wali, Farhad Darya.

Kalvani, Todi, Kamboji, Bhairavi, Chandrakauns, Pantuvarali


Folklore (Mahali)

Afghan folklore music is actually played in combination with some drums (tabla, daira, dholak, Kozak or any other) with Rubab and Harmonium.
Some singers come from "Kharabad" a region in Afghanistan. Folk music is played in all regions in Afghanistan and different languages.

Some famous folklore singers in Afghanistan:
Durai Loghari, Sallaam Loghari, Behltun, Faiz Karezi.
